The Disability Housing Australia REIT is a wholesale unlisted, open-ended real estate investment trust designed to build and invest in Specialist Disability Accommodation housing for Australians living with disability.
For every Australian living with disability to have access to high quality, safe, secure and fit for purpose housing and to set the standard for specialist disability accommodation housing investment in Australia.
Access to adequate, accessible, and affordable housing is a fundamental human right. Historically, housing tailored for people with disability has been provided largely by government and the not-for-profit sector, with several challenges including:
Lengthy waitlists for the limited supply of appropriate housing, resulting in a large number of people being unable to secure appropriate accommodation.
Aging stock that is often not-fit-for purpose and requires replacement.
Large group homes which are institutional in nature and no longer considered good practice.
Facilitating the creation of high quality disability housing in our communities with a focus on design categories for which there is meaningful unmet demand;
Ensuring all aspects of any investment, from design to tenant selection to the provision of support providers are all working to achieving positive outcomes for all stakeholders.
Applying models of investment that can be scaled by the market to supply unmet housing demand in the sector.
